LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An Army sergeant accused of shooting and killing a man at Fort Knox has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Sergeant Marquinta Jacobs pleaded guilty yesterday as his court martial began to charges of premeditated murder and aggravated assault.

The judge gave him a dishonorable discharge and a demotion in rank in the U.S. military.

Police say he killed 51-year-old Lloyd Gibert, who was a civilian employee at Fort Knox.

Army Corrections will decide where Jacobs will serve his sentence.
