LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say they have arrested a man after he was in a car accident while driving a vehicle that had been stolen from Bullitt County, Ky.
It happened on Thursday, Jan. 9, shortly after 9 p.m.
Police say they were called to an injury accident that took place near the corner of Bardstown Rd. and Lowell Ave. When they arrived, they allegedly found 43-year-old Larry Ray Martin, who had been injured in the crash.
Police say Martin had been driving a vehicle that had been stolen earlier in the day from Pleasant Grove Elementary on Hwy. 33 East in Bullitt County, Ky. -- and that he'd caused severe damage to the vehicle during the crash.
He was driving the vehicle with a suspended license and no insurance, police say.
Martin gave a recorded statement admitting to the crime as he was being treated at University Hospital.
Louisville Metro Police have charged him with receipt of stolen property, criminal mischief, operating a motor vehicle on a suspended license and driving without insurance. Additional charges may be filed in Bullitt County.
