LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Several of the city's most expert baristas put their coffee to the test Friday night.
Quills Coffee hosted a mock competition for its three baristas competing in the upcoming Big Eastern competition for the Speciality Coffee Association of America, next weekend in Raleigh, N.C.
The baristas ran through their 15-minute presentation before a panel of judges at the Quills location on Cardinal Boulevard.
Next weekend, they hope the spotlight shines on Louisville.
"It's going to put Louisville on the map," said barista Robbie Melton. "Often times when people think about coffee cities they are thinking Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, New York or Chicago. But usually it's West Coast or East Coast and the Midwest has a lot that is going on."
Winners from the regional competition will then advance to the national competition later this year.
