BULLITT COUNTY, Ky. (WDRB) - Members of a Bullitt County church community hope the fourth time is the charm, after they are forced to rebuild following an arson.
Today, people gathered at the site of the new Dennie Memorial Methodist Church at Main and Brook Streets in Lebanon Junction for the church groundbreaking.
It's been two years since someone burned the old church down. No arrests have been made in that case.
Pastor Calvin Johson says the first time the church burned was because of a wood fire, the second was electrical and the third was arson.
He says this time, the church is coming back better than ever. "I can tell you that i see this church growing step by step and there have been times that we have wondered what is going to be the next thing but the biggest thing was getting everyone on to the same page."
Since the arson, community members have been worshipping at another church.
Pastor Johnson says the hope is that the new church will be built in four to six months.
