Teen accused of erratic driving set to appear in court Monday

CLARKSVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) - A teenager will make his first court appearance on attempted murder charges Monday, after authorities say he and another teen slammed into a police officer.

On Wednesday, 18 year old Cody Cashion and another boy, who is 16, were seen driving erratically around a Clarksville restaurant and shopping district around 4 a.m.

When police tried to pull the two over, the driving only became more dangerous.

Officer Jason Tackett was inside his cruiser, stopped in the opposite direction of the chase on Greentree Blvd.

Police say the teens intentionally slammed the SUV into his cruiser going close to 50 miles per hour.

After the crash, the teens climbed out of their flipped SUV and started running from police, but were quickly arrested.

Officer Tacket was hospitalized in good condition after the incident.

Police say each of the teens are accusing the other of being in the driver's seat.
