LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville woman has been arrested after authorities say she stole an attorney's briefcase -- while inside the Hall of Justice.

The alleged incident took place shortly after 11 a.m. on Friday.

According to an arrest report, 32-year-old Melissa Lynn Eaton was in court with another individual that morning. At some point in the morning, she was standing in the hallway outside Courtroom 203, when she took the briefcase belonging to the attorney, concealing it as she walked past some Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies and left the courthouse.

Authorities say the briefcase contained a Hewlett Packard laptop, an iPhone and a check written in the amount of $50. The total value of the briefcase and its contents was $1,600.

Her actions were captured on surveillance video, according to the arrest report. She was identified, and later contacted by authorities, at which point she returned the briefcase.

Eaton was arrested and charged with theft, authorities say.
