LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A teenager accused of crashing an SUV into a Clarksville Police cruiser stood before a judge Monday afternoon.
Cody Cashion, age 18, is charged with attempted murder. Prosecutors believe he was behind the wheel, driving erratically last Wednesday morning.
A 16-year old was also in the car.
Police say the teens refused to stop for officers and crashed their SUV into a police cruiser stopped in the opposite direction on Greentree Blvd.
Officers say the crash at nearly 50 miles an hour was intentional.
"The attempted murder charge carries 50 years and then the additional felonies on there that go for reckless driving and resisting police -- those can add an additional dozens of years on there so he is looking at upwards of probably 70 years," said Prosecutor Jeremy Mull.
The officer in the cruiser was hospitalized after the incident. Cashion's trial is set for June 9.
He's held in the Clark County jail with a $100,000 cash bond.
