LANE | Cats Up, Cards Down in Poll

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky inched up and Louisville took a fall according to the latest A.P. men's college basketball poll.

Arizona and Syracuse remained the top two teams in the poll for the sixth consecutive week.  The Wildcats got 61 first place votes and Syracuse received the other four.  But there was plenty of movement behind the top two, as eleven ranked teams lost games last week.

Wisconsin, Michigan State and Wichita State all moved up one spot to round out the top five.

Ohio State took the biggest plunge, falling eight spots to 11th after losses to Michigan State and Iowa.  Duke fell seven spots to 23 after losing to Clemson.

Kentucky went from 14 to 13 after wins over Mississippi State and Saturday's win at Vanderbilt. Louisville fell six spots to 18th after losing at home to Memphis Thursday and beating SMU Sunday.

The top 25 teams in The Associated Press' college basketball poll, with first-place votes in parentheses, records through Jan. 12, total points based on 25 points for a first-place vote through one point for a 25th-place vote and last week's ranking:
