LMPD: Suspect slammed into police car after pursuit; no one injured

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) --LMPD officials say no one was injured in an officer-involved crash in Shively, and a juvenile suspect is in custody.

LMPD spokesperson Alicia Smiley says an officer responded to shots fired near the 2200 block of W Muhammad Ali Blvd, and began pursuing a vehicle matching the description.

Smiley says the car eventually pulled over on Garrs Lane, but the driver made a U-turn and struck the officer's vehicle before hitting a telephone pole.

Police say the 17-year-old suspect fell out of the car and attempted to flee, but he was detained at the scene. Neither the suspect or officer sustained any injuries.

Police say the suspect is charged with assault, criminal mischief and fleeing and evading police.
