Louisville's Jennifer Lawrence publicly teased over dress

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - While Louisville residents cheer on a local teen-turned-superstar, it's clear the fashion police are out to get Jennifer Lawrence.

Photographers praised her look at the Golden Globes, but it didn't matter. Critics were quick to compare the designer Dior gown to the sailcloth and rope that made up the outfit worn by the title character in Disney's "The Little Mermaid."

And it didn't end there.

Imitations flooded the Internet, and it became known as "Lawrencing." A Denver television anchor tweeted, "Who wore it better, Jennifer Lawrence or my floor director Aaron?"

Most who mocked Lawrence's outfit still say they love her. One person posted, "She could wear a burlap sack and it changes nothing. The haters are just jealous."
