LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man has been arrested after police say he burned a 9-year-old girl with a cigarette lighter.

It happened on Dec. 12, according to an arrest warrant.

Police say the suspect, 27-year-old Rolando Caveda, is the boyfriend of the child's mother. According to the warrant, he intentionally burned the 9-year-old girl on the cheek with the lighter.

The girl's father called police.

Police say they filed a report and took photos of the injury, which consisted of a burn to her face. The girl allegedly told investigators Caveda burned her face, "for no apparent reason."

A warrant was issued for Caveda's arrest on Jan. 7. He was arrested at his home on Jan. 16. Caveda is charged with third degree criminal abuse, a misdemeanor.
