Apartment fire contained near Crestwood

Posted: Updated:

CRESTWOOD, Ky. (WDRB) - Several fire departments responded to an apartment fire this morning near Crestwood.

Rescue crews found everyone had already gotten out of the building and no one was hurt. South Oldham Fire spokesperson Kevin Parker says crews did a good job containing the fire and minimized damaged.

Because the fire was contained to one apartment, firefighters were forced to deal with extreme heat and lots of smoke, says Parker, but no firefighters were injured.

Neighboring units on either side of the fire suffered some water damage, but crews were able to keep the fire from reaching the roof and spreading.

The Red Cross arrived on scene to assist neighbors who will be displaced until the water damage can be cleaned up, but the building is secure and they will be able to return.
