Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Service projects across the city will mark today's holiday remembering Doctor Martin Luther King, Junior.

Service for Peace has dozens of volunteers refurbishing Liberty Baptist Church and the Portland and Shelby Park Community Centers.

Hundreds of volunteers from UAW/FORD Local 862 and Target are doing framing, drywall and painting for the youth center and community kitchen that will serve Shawnee residents.

And 25 University of Louisville volunteers will be working inside moving furniture, cleaning and organizing and outside removing heavy weeds, working on the basketball court.
