LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- 2nd-ranked Bellarmine rallied from nine down to force overtime, but lost to #10 Southern Indiana 68-66 on a buzzer-beating tip-in from Gavin Schumann.

USI pounded the Knights on the boards, 54-34 led by Aaron Nelson's 19 rebounds.  The Screaming Eagles big man scored 15 points and his understudy in the post, equally big Chuck Jones scored 10 points off the bench.

Bellarmine was led by Freshman Josh Derksen who scored all 16 of his points after the halftime break.  He scored 11 straight to help the Knights rally in the second half.  Vance Hall tied the game with less than three seconds left and Bellarmine got the ball back with 1.5 seconds left on a USI turnover.  Keiston Jones missed a shot at the buzzer to end regulation.

Head Coach Scott Davenport lamented the Knights lack of rebounding, poor shot selection and their continued struggles at the foul line.  They made just 9-of-18 from the charity stripe.

Bellarmine is now 13-2 overall and 5-2 in the GLVC, a game behind USI which came into the game with an identical record.  The Knights now hit the road for games on Wisconsin-Parkside on Thursday and Lewis on Saturday before returning home January 30th against McKendree.
