LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - A Kentucky woman has gotten her family photo back nearly two years after it was lost in a tornado.
Betty Helton's business, West Liberty Tax Service, was demolished in the tornado on March 2, 2012. A family picture she thought had been lost in the rubble was found in a town ironically called Tornado, West Virginia. The town is located 115 miles away.
Jim Bess found the photo of a mother, father and three sons and noticed that Helton's husband's name was on his belt. Bess used that information to track down the family.
Helton said, "He said it looked like a mother and a father and three sons. I described what we were wearing and everything and what the picture looked like and he described some to me and I knew it was our picture."
Helton and her family met up with Bess and his wife a few weeks ago, and he returned the picture, which has turned these two strangers into friends forever.
