Purdue classes canceled today after fatal shooting

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Classes are canceled at Purdue one day after a student was gunned down on campus.

Andrew Boldt, age 21, was killed by a fellow engineering student in a basement classroom in the Electrical Engineering building on Tuesday. Moments after the shooting, police arrested 23-year-old Cody Cousins.

Last night, students gathered on campus to hold a candlelight vigil to remember Boldt.

Right now, police are not releasing a motive for the shooting.

"Well, I was in the room adjacent to the one that the shooting took place," said Nick Weland, a student. "I heard a couple gunshots. I heard a man scream and then there were a couple more gunshots that kind of trailed off. I don't know exactly how many."

Boldt was from Wisconsin and was a teaching assistant at the University.
