LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- It was a loud request in the Capitol on Wednesday.
Hundreds of state transportation workers and other employees rallied for more money. They're pushing state leaders to approve cost of living increases this year, saying their salaries are not on par with inflation rates.
"They're doing things to cut costs and make it, but when everything else is going up, and up and up, and the pay is not going up at all -- I mean -- even with just electric and water, it has been astronomical in the last two years. But you can't do anything about it."
The rally comes one day after Ky. Gov. Steve Beshear outlined a bleak budget, proposing 5-percent cuts in several state agencies to fund education.
