LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A woman accused of DUI and reckless driving was arrested early Thursday after police say she was driving the wrong way on two major interstates.
According to the arrest report, police received a call shortly after 1 a.m. about a woman driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-264 near the Bardstown Road exit. Officers sent to investigate stopped a vehicle facing north in the southbound lanes of I-71N.
Police say the driver, 26-year-old Amanda Sporrer, smelled of alcohol and admitted she had been drinking. When Sporrer saw the officer approaching her car, police say she turned off the engine and said "I'm not driving."
A field sobriety test was not performed, police say, because of the dangerous location where the stop was made. Police say Sporrer had glassy eyes and was unsteady on her feet.
She's charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol, second offense, and reckless driving.
