Owner of charter bus company pleads ignorance of tire conditions

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The owner of a charter bus that crashed in Louisville says he had no idea his bus had 11-year-old tires that came from a scrap bin.

The bus was filled with high school students coming back from a college visit when it crashed on I-64 last June. Twenty-three people were injured when the bus hit a concrete median.

Four lawsuits were filed against Commonwealth Bus Service and Transportation, which owned the bus.

The company was cited for maintenance violations, and is now closed.
