LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville program that works to score jobs for teens lands a big national award.
Mayor Fischer's SummerWorks program landed jobs and training for 1,500 young people last summer. Today, it won first place in the National Summer Youth Jobs Challenge.
The U.S. Conference of Mayors presented Fischer with the award today in Washington DC. Fischer launched the program three years ago, after federal funding for summer jobs dropped, and it has grown each year.
This year, Fischer says he hopes to use it to find 2,000 jobs for Louisville teens.
