LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say a former employee of Toys "R" Us has been accused of theft.
According to an arrest warrant, the crimes took place from Dec. 1, 2013 to Dec. 12, 2013, at the Toys "R" Us store on Dixie Hwy., near Lower Hunters Trace.
Police say 24-year-old Tameika Douglas, an employee of the store at the time, was working with two employee accomplices to steal cash and merchandise from the business. According to the warrant, they would pass merchandise to customers without charging them, and also take gift card rewards that were intended for customers and use them for themselves.
During the above time frame, Douglas allegedly passed over $500 worth of merchandise without charging them, and stole a $50 gift card that belonged to a customer. She later allegedly gave the gift card to an accomplice, who used it to make a purchase.
One of Douglas' accomplices was confronted by security and allegedly admitted to the crimes in a written statement.
After that, police say Douglas stopped coming to work.
A warrant was issued for Douglas' arrest on Jan. 3. She was taken into custody on Tuesday, Jan. 23.
