Ohio River Bridges Project to cost $300 million less

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The price tag for the Ohio River Bridges Project is now lower than first expected.

The cost of building the Downtown and East End crossings has dropped by $300 million. The total is now expected to be at $2.3 billion.

Bridge leaders say this is because they've found ways to make the design and construction more efficient. They plan to finish both bridges faster than expected.

The revised price tag does not include financing and interest costs that will be paid back by tolls on drivers crossing the new bridges.
