Matt Bevin puts out anti-McConnell radio ads

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Senate-hopeful Matt Bevin has put out new radio ads that directly attack U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell.

Bevin is trying to un-seat the five-term Republican Senate leader in the May primary.

The state-wide ads are the first of the new year and accuse McConnell of being an out-of-touch Washington insider.

One ad pokes fun at how long McConnell has been in office, saying The Cosby Show was new and Cabbage Patch Kids were hot toys when he was first elected.

McConnell's spokeswoman says Bevin came out with the attack ads just a day after he spoke out against negative campaigning.

Coming up in our 4:00 newscast, we'll look at what Mitch McConnell and Alison Lundergan Grimes are doing in response.
