LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A semi truck driver misjudged the height of a rail bridge and knocked it down shortly before 10:00 in Clarksville, Ind. Friday morning.
The driver - with Kentuckiana Trucking - needed to be rescued. He was trapped inside the cab of the truck. He was eventually taken to University Hospital, but it's not clear how serious his injuries are.
"Before we could start an extrication to remove the victim from his vehicle, we had to stabilize the bridge itself," said Chief Tom Upton of the Clarksville Fire Department. "So we had to bring in three heavy-duty wreckers to stabilize that so we didn't have the risk of the bridge collapsing onto the truck any further."
The bridge that was hit was an old, abandoned CSX rail line. It will eventually be taken down and removed from the area.
