CAMPBELLSBURG, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky State Police say they've arrested a Spencer County couple accused of sexually abusing a juvenile girl.
According to Kentucky State Police, 38-year-old Laura Pike and her boyfriend, 36-year-old Brett Smith, both from Fischerville, Ky., abused one of Pike's relatives while living in Henry County, Ky.
Police say Pike and Smith were supposed to be caring for the child.
"If this happens to anyone, obviously it's serious - happening to a child is even worse," said KSP Trooper Brad Arterburn.
Police arrested the couple at their home on Wilsonville Road in Spencer County on Friday.
"They were both charged with sexual abuse, transaction with a minor and sodomy, and she was additionally charged with incest," Trooper Arterburn explained.
Trooper Arterburn says detectives are in the process of talking to other children who may have once lived with the couple.
"The investigation is on going, we're going to try to talk to everybody who was in the house, everybody who could have known anything about this just to see what we could find out."
A neighbor who would not go on camera had doubts about the charges; police, however, do not.
"We were confident in the charges, that's why we got the warrant and made the arrests that we did," said Trooper Arterburn.
All of the charges involve a victim under the age of 12, according to police.
Pike is currently lodged at the Carroll County Detention Center, while Smith is at the Shelby County Detention Center.
