LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Babies are being moved into the new neonatal intensive care unit at Kosair Children's Hospital.
It's part of a $24.5 million renovation to increase the capacity of the NICU to 101 beds.
The new space features private rooms for families.
"Parents will really love having their own private room, quiet for baby, quiet for them as well as controlling the noise level," said NICU medical director Dan L. Stewart, MD.
"It's just the icing on the cake. We've received such great care here. I just love it. It feels like one step closer to home," said Jessica Doyle, a mother of twins
This is the third part of a five-phase project. Additional work that will be completed includes renovating the existing NICU space.
