LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - The unemployment rate for the state of Indiana is at a five year low.

The rate for the state's unemployment population fell 6.9 percent. It's the state's lowest since Oct. 2008, when many job cuts occurred with a deepening recession.

The state's jobless rate has been decreasing since the summer after having been stagnant at above 8 percent.

Indiana's unemployment rate is slightly higher than the national rate.

A new report shows nearly 220,000 people were looking for jobs last month in Indiana.
