LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The 5-star defensive tackle from John Hardin High School has chosen has made his decision: he'll wear a Wildcat helmet next year.
Hardin turned down a chance to play for Alabama.
WDRB's Tom Lane tweeted the news during a news conference Thursday afternoon. According to Lane, Elam said it was very hard to turn down Alabama, and told reporters "it came down to relationships."
Elam says he appreciates the opportunity for a free education, and noted that he needs to "lose weight and get in better shape" but feels he can come in and play right away.
As for future NFL prospects, Elam put it this way: "If you're good, you're good. The NFL will find you."
John Hardin High School is located in Elizabethtown, Ky.
