LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man has been charged with theft after police say he tried to steal thousands of dollars worth of iPhones from a warehouse.
According to the arrest warrant, 36-year-old Dameon Giles was working for Gazelle Inc., a business that sells iPhones and other electronic devices on the Internet, when he entered a warehouse on Nov. 30 with a former employee who had previously been banned from the building.
As security was questioning the former employee, police say Giles went to the back of the building and returned carrying a bag of Doritos. According to the warrant, Giles placed the bag in a basket before walking through the company's metal detector, but security thought the bag looked "heavy." When the security guard checked, he discovered nine iPhones in the package.
Giles then ran from the business and never returned. Police caught up with him and arrested him on Jan. 30. He's charged with one count of theft by unlawful taking.
