LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Let the voters decide: that's the position Ind. Gov. Mike Pence is taking on gay marriage.
Pence wants lawmakers to send a proposed state constitutional ban on gay marriage to voters this year.
House lawmakers removed a provision banning civil unions for the proposed amendment this week. That change threatens to push back a statewide referendum on the issue until 2016.
Pence says he wants to see the civil unions ban restored.
The proposed ban is being taken up in the Senate in the coming weeks.
