Milton-Madison bridge pier blasted out Friday

Posted: Updated:

MILTON, Ky. (WDRB) - A demolition blast took down a 92-foot-tall pier from the Milton-Madison bridge.

The demolition process closed the bridge down for about ten minutes Friday at four p.m., and a second blast will go off in a few days.

Three original piers have been strengthened and are being re-used to support the new bridge. The pier blasted out Friday has been replaced with a new pier on land.

In March, the new bridge that's on temporary piers will be slid onto the new and refurbished piers.
