LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell has a big lead on his main democratic rival Alison Lundergan Grimes in one respect: money.
During the last quarter of 2013, the McConnell and Grimes were in a dead heat in the amount of campaign contributions.
McConnell's camp says he raised $2.2 million during that period, compared to Grimes' $2.1 million.
But overall, McConnell has raised a total of $20 million for the election, while Grimes has closed in on $5 million.
Grimes is the frontrunner for the Democratic nomination in May.
Meanwhile, McConnell faces a GOP primary challenger in Louisville businessman Matt Bevin.
