Elizabethtown rescue crews pull dog from frozen pond

Posted: Updated:

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (WDRB) - It's not your typical rescue call to 9-1-1, but Elizabethtown crews responded to a call that a dog was stuck in the middle of a frozen pond in Pine Valley.

A cell phone video that was taken of the rescue by viewer JoLynn Shipp shows rescue crews pulling the dog out of the icy water.

Apparently the dog, named Ginny, got out of her fence and wandered out onto the ice. Once on the pond her back legs broke through the ice, trapping her about 40 yards from shore.

Firefighters used an inflatable raft to reach her and pull her to safety.
