Man killed in Switzerland County, Ind. crash

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Switzerland County Sheriff Roy A. Leap has confirmed a man died Sunday as a result of a two-vehicle collision that happened on State Road 156 just east of Patriot. The crash happened at approximately 7:15 p.m.

Lawrence W. Allison, 66, and his wife of Warsaw, KY, were traveling westbound on State Road 156 when their vehicle struck a second automobile that was traveling eastbound. That car was driven by James M. Bevis, 24, of Patriot, Ind.

Bevis was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities. Allison and his wife were transported by Switzerland County EMS to University Hospital in Cincinnati. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

Agencies assisting at the scene included Switzerland County EMS, Posey Township Fire, Patriot Fire, Jeff-Craig Fire, Rising Sun Fire, Indiana State Police and the Switzerland Co. Coroner.

The crash remains under investigation at this time. Anyone with information about the accident is asked to contact the Switzerland Co. Sheriff's Office at (812) 427-3636.
