PASTOR: Muhlenberg Co. fire survivors improving in hospital

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WDRB) -- The two survivors of a Muhlenberg County, Ky. fire that killed nine of their family members are improving in the hospital, says the family's pastor.

Pastor Tim Burden says staff at Vanderbilt Medical Hospital has taken 11-year-old Kylie Watson off a ventilator and walked her around the Nashville, Tenn. hospital.

Her father, Chad Watson, is now responding to staff and visitors with facial expressions and arm movements, but he remains on a ventilator.

Chad Watson's wife and eight of his children died in a house fire last week. Investigators say an electric baseboard heater caused the fire.

Visitation for the nine fire victims begins Saturday, Feb. 8, at 11 a.m. central time in the Muhlenberg County High School auditorium, with the funeral immediately following at 1 p.m. central time.
