Haven House surprised by food donation from Kentucky Harvest

Posted: Updated:

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) -- On Thursday morning, a truck full of canned goods was unloaded at Haven House in Jeffersonville.

"We saw your newscast last night where Haven House needed some help with some food," said Eric Churchill, senior vice president of development for Kentucky Harvest. "That's what Kentucky Harvest does."

The director of the shelter says more people are coming in due to the cold weather -- and that has it running low on food and supplies.

Haven House didn't know the donation was coming until the truck showed up.

"We were scraping the bottom with food," said Barbara Anderson, executive director of Haven House. "It was food on the table, literally."

Anderson says this donation translates into about a month or two of food.
