LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A trip to the garbage can leads to an abduction and frightening night for a local minister.
"After dinner, I went out to throw away garbage," said Daniel, the kidnapping victim.
It was without question the longest and scariest trip to the garbage can of his life -- that's why WDRB is hiding Daniel's identity.
"I was car-jacked."
Daniel is a local minister in the Asian community and he was not only was he car-jacked -- the suspects even took him along for the ride.
"They want money, and they ask me how much money could you give me? I told them the pin number but they failed to draw money," Daniel explained.
And that's when the two went on a shopping spree, with Daniel held hostage inside his own car, fearing for his life.
"They said if you don't cooperate with us we'll kill you."
The shopping spree started at the Broadway Foodmart, then to White Castle on 7th Street, the Fern Creek Walmart, then to the Bashford location and finally the Walmart on Hustbourne Lane in Jeffersontown.
They even bought duct tape and used it on Daniel.
"Bounded my mouth, eyes and then my hands and legs."
Then after several hours, the suspects actually dumped Daniel near the intersection of Bardstown Road and Hurstbourne Lane.
"He went to a nearby apartment complex and saw a man there and asked for help and asked him to call police," said LMPD Det. James Franklin.
Metro Police say the suspects took Daniel's Silver KIA Sedona van, but they left a crucial piece of evidence behind: surveillance images inside some of the Walmart stores.
"We're looking for one black male, appears to be about 6'2" - early 20s. We're looking for another shorter individual, 5'6" - 5'8" white male, looks to be a juvenile white male to me," Det. Franklin said.
The suspects may have threatened Daniel's life, but something he said to them during the ordeal may have saved it.
"I just told them I am a poor seminary student and I have my parents in South Korea," Daniel said.
Once an arrest is made, the suspects will be charged with kidnapping and armed robbery.
