Rick Bozich of WDRB posts his weekly vote in the AP College Basketball Top 25 poll.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – When the new Associated Press
college basketball Top 25 poll is released Monday afternoon it won't create
Syracuse will remain on top, followed by Arizona, Florida,
unbeaten Wichita State, San Diego State and then Villanova. None of the top six
teams lost last week. Rare week.
But this is my prediction for the most interesting nugget in
the new poll – five teams from the American Athletic Conference will be ranked.
Cincinnati will get the most love, despite the 23-point hit
the Bearcats took from SMU Saturday. Louisville might move up to 13th.
And Memphis and Connecticut will be joined near the bottom of the poll by Larry
Brown's SMU team, the one that has won eight of its last nine games.
The American has not stirred much love on the national
scene. You don't hear the analysts talking about its teams as top national
title contenders. I left Memphis off my ballot, but the Tigers were ranked 24th
last week and won two games.
But five teams from the American have an excellent chance to
be parked in the Top 25 when it is released on Monday.
