Proposed legislation would allow guns in restaurants and bars

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- If two Kentucky lawmakers have their way, gun owners who have a concealed carry license will be able to take their weapons into restaurants and bars, as long as they don't drink.

Under current state law, loaded firearms are not allowed in bars.

The new proposal would change that, though individual bar owners would still be allowed to prohibit concealed weapons.

A Senate committee passed the bill this morning.

It now goes to the full Senate.
