BUCKNER, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky U.S. Senate candidate Matt Bevin took his campaign to Oldham County Monday morning, promising leadership in Washington if elected.
The businessman and tea party favorite spoke to the Oldham Co. Republican Woman's Club in Buckner.
Bevin is running against Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell in the May Republican primary.
He says if elected, there's a lot he could accomplish in Washington as a rookie senator.
"Who have been true leaders? Rand Paul, new guys are leaders, they are the only ones that are leading in the Senate today," Bevin said.
"Mitch McConnell having this supposed power -- where's the evidence in it? The only one benefiting from it is Mitch McConnell."
Alison Lundergan Grimes is the presumed Democratic nominee who will face the winner of the Republican primary.
