How did a convicted killer escape from a Michigan jail?

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- How did a convicted killer escape from a Michigan jail? That's the question state officials hope to have answered as they grill prison leaders Thursday morning.

Michael Elliot, age 40, broke through two fences and escaped from the Ionia Correctional Facility for 24 hours earlier this month. The state says motion sensors should have triggered an alarm and alerted authorities about Elliot's escape.

He was later arrested in northwestern Indiana, and will soon be returned to Michigan.

Two prison employees have since been suspended.
