Kentucky State Police opens Instagram account

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky State Police are expanding their presence on social media by opening an Instagram account.

State police already make announcements and provide updates on Facebook and Twitter. Now, they're using Instagram, the online photo-sharing app.

But the Instagram account will have a different purpose than the agency's Facebook and Twitter feeds. The app will be used to share "photos of troopers and civilian staff at work and play."

Officials say using Instagram will increase interaction with 18- to 24-year-olds.
