Book signing event with UK's Coach Calipari

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) --  Carmichael's Bookstore will host an event in April for University of Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari to celebrate the publication of his new book Players First: Coaching From the Inside Out.

The ticketed event will be Thursday, April 24th at 7 PM at The Clifton Center's Eifler Auditorium. Tickets are $30 each and include admission to the event and a copy of Coach Calipari's forthcoming book, which will be published on April 15, 2014. Tickets are on sale starting February 17th at both Carmichael's locations, by phone, and on the store's website.
In Players First, John Calipari gives us the world of college basketball from the coach's chair as we've never seen it before, unvarnished and straight from the heart as it provides lessons about leadership, character, and the path to personal and collective victory. The book details for the first time anywhere his first five years coaching Kentucky, leading the team to a national championship while coming to grips with the new world of one-and-done athletes, and coping with an NCAA that sometimes seems more like part of the problem than the solution.
The evening will include an on-stage interview and discussion between Coach Calipari and Kentucky Sports Radio's Matt Jones, a few questions from the audience, and a book signing. Seating in the theatre is general admission.  Event tickets include line numbers that will be used to organize the signing so those who buy tickets first will be called first for the book signing portion of the event.

John Calipari and his teams have earned 12 conference titles, four Final Fours, and the 2012 NCAA championship.  His eight 30-win seasons are the third most for a head coach in NCAA Division 1 history.
