Indiana meth labs may soon be reported online

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Lawmakers in Indiana are considering a proposal that would warn potential home buyers about property where meth labs were found.

Properties could be taken off a list 90 days after they are cleaned and become approved living spaces. Indiana State Police say about 1,800 meth labs were found across Indiana in 2013.

Environmental officials say contaminated homes pose health hazards, particularly for children.

The proposal passed the Indiana House unanimously. The proposal still needs approval from the full Senate and Gov. Mike Pence before it can become law.
