LOS ANGELES, Calif. (WDRB) -- Tuesday night, Louisville native Brandy Neelly will compete live on TV, in front of millions of people, hoping for a spot in the Top 13 on American idol.

It's Rush Week on American Idol, where the Top 30 is narrowed down to the Top 13. Louisville native Brandy Neelly is among the 15 girls remaining and we caught up with her family in Hollywood.

It's the 4th time Brandy Neelly has made it to Hollywood for American idol, but she had never been in the top 30.

"To get that rejection and be told no, and then to come back. That shows a lot of courage and determination." Brandy's mother Cheryl Neelly said, "The kid has tenacity. She's willing to take the lumps and I think she deserved her spot.

Cheryl and her sister Denise flew into Hollywood on Monday to support Brandy during the live show on Tuesday when the women perform. You can't miss Brandy's face on their t-shirts.

"Everyone has asked us about our shirts," Tracy said, "and of course we've had to talk to people about that. We love to brag, we have no problem with that."

Neelly's family is taking some time to enjoy the city as she's rehearsing and they say they're so excited to be in 75 degree weather.

Cheryl says she's nervous and anxious about the live shows this week. She's hoping the 4th time is a charm for Brandy, and they're thankful for everyone who supported the Louisville native along the way.

"I'm just so thankful Brandy's endured it and I'm extremely thankful that Louisville supports her. I can't tell you how much that means to me, my family, and Brandy."

The men will perform Wednesday and then the Top 13 will be announced Thursday. You can see those shows live on WDRB.
