LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The hottest college basketball team in the area currently resides in New Albany. IU Southeast made it 16 consecutive wins and 32 straight at home with a 95-87 victory over Cincinnati Christian. The Grenadiers (21-3, 15-0 in the KIAC), coached by former U of L standout Wiley Brown, haven't lost a game of any sort since November 30th of last year.
The visitors hit four-of-ten three-point attempts in the first half and led 43-38 at halftime.
IUS pumped up the offense in the second half, hitting 62 percent from the field on 18-of-29 shooting. Senior Guard Cameron Mitchell led four in double figures with 27 points, 19 coming in the second half. Jake Simpson had 15, Keegan Clark 13 and Vernon Payne 10 for IU Southeast.
A two-time league coach of the year, Brown, in his seventh year at the helm, is looking to lead the Grenadiers to a seventh consecutive KIAC Title and a seventh consecutive berth in the NAIA national tournament. The Grenadiers made it the Fab Four for the first time last season.
IUS will honor five seniors when they host Brescia Wednesday at 7:00 pm.
