JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) -- A Clark County man is accused of impersonating an officer after police say he attempted to open up a bank account under an alias.

Court documents allege Jimmy C. Gregory Jr. presented a badge to an employee at First Savings Bank, saying that he was an undercover narcotics officer and needed to open up a bank account under an alias, Nov. 19, 2013.

According to a probable cause affidavit, an employee recognized Gregory as a customer and contacted the Clark Co. Sheriff's Department.

Authorities denied Gregory's employment as an undercover officer and say it's possible he used his father's special deputy badge, according to documents.

A warrant was issued for Gregory's arrest Feb. 13.

Prosecutors say Gregory turned himself in Tuesday morning and was later released.

Gregory is charged with impersonation of an officer and attempt to fraud a financial institution.
