LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Derby Day is still more than two months away, but Thursday morning, the public got its first look at this year's Pegasus Pin.
The Hard Rock Cafe restaurant at Fourth Street Live! is the first location to get the pins.
This year, there's only one kind of pin, and it features a holographic picture of the Louisville skyline. KDF officials say they'll draw eight grand prizes in the weeks leading up to Derby for people who register their pins online. Those prizes will include shopping sprees and Kroger gas cards, as well as the biggest prize of a Honda CRV.
"When they see the Pegasus Pin coming out, you know, they see the jackets, we're getting ready to warm up, so I think everybody looks forward to it," said Aimee Boyd, spokesperson for the Kentucky Derby Festival.
KDF leaders say they sell up to 300,000 Pegasus Pins each year.
Tonight's Festival Unveiled event will officially kick off the Kentucky Derby Festival.
