LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say a Louisville man was driving on a suspended license when he allegedly drove into an apartment building in the 800 block of E. Chestnut Street over the weekend.
According to an arrest report, it happened around 8 p.m. on Feb. 22. That's where officers were called after a vehicle struck a balcony support, causing significant damage to the balcony and a bottom floor apartment.
The driver of the vehicle had left the scene, but officers ran the plate and discovered the 1986 Chevrolet vehicle was registered to 28-year-old Curt Dale Barnett. No one answered when officers knocked on the door of his E. Chestnut St. residence.
Police say Barnett called another resident who lives at the home and spoke with officers. When he returned to the scene, police say Barnett admitted he was driving the vehicle when it crashed, and that he left the scene.
Police say they discovered that Barnett's license is suspended. He also allegedly told officers he was driving without insurance.
Barnett was charged with driving on a suspended license, driving without insurance and leaving the scene of an accident.
