LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say a Louisville man stole a transportable charcoal grill from a Jeffersontown hotel and sold it for scrap.

Damon P. Taylor, 33, was arrested Saturday after he allegedly stole a transportable charcoal grill from the Marriott Louisville East, Feb. 6.

According to an arrest warrant, the hotel has surveillance video of Taylor and an accomplice taking the grill. Police also say a witness wrote down the license plate number of the truck Taylor was driving.

Taylor took the grill to Grade A Allstate and sold it for scrap, according to police.

The warrant states Grade A also has surveillance video of Taylor selling the grill, which is valued at more than $500.

A Metro Police detective says he recorded a phone conversation with Taylor and his accomplice in which they admitted to stealing the grill.

Taylor is charged theft by unlawful taking.
